With City’s midfield, not the best so far, this season, Meireles might just by an option to consider to add a bit of steel to the team. But not playing active football since last year means that he will be out of shape and his fitness level will have dropped.

The Foxes are expecting the arrival of their £22million signing, Adrian Silva in January and Matty James to return from injury, Meireles chances of a move might not be feasible.

Meireles moved to Liverpool from his hometown club, Porto, in 2010 before moving to Chelsea in the next window. He also enjoyed a four-year spell in Turkey at Fernabache. His experience might become useful for Leicester if he eventually joins them. This will lessen the workload on Wilfred Ndidi in the middle of the park and give the Nigerian the opportunity to move up the field to create more goal scoring chances. Also, the likely departure of Algerian winger, Riyard Mahrez means that it’s will be good for Leicester to start reinforcing their squad from now.
