Leicester City boss Claude Puel has revealed that star Riyad Mahrez has shown no signs of wanting to leave the club when the transfer window opens, in a report from the Leicester Mercury.
Mahrez, 26, had publicly stated his desire to leave the King Power over the summer, however, the Foxes kept hold of him, rejecting bids from numerous clubs during the window, the highest being a £32 million offer from Italian side Roma.
The winger has shown glimpses over the past month of returning to the kind of form which led to a Ballon d’Or nomination two seasons ago, and Puel has revealed that the player is at a club which he loves.
Talking to the media ahead of Leicester’s Friday night trip to the London Stadium to take on West Ham, Puel revealed how Mahrez has been since he joined the club.
It’s finished. That was last summer. Now he’s concentrating on this season. He’s keeping a good focus, and when I spoke with him, he is a player who likes football, he likes the game.
The winger has started all three league games under Puel so far, and the positive relationship the pair seem to have may well be the contributing factor in whether or not Mahrez stays at Leicester in January.
