Leicester City are targeting a summer move for England international and Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson in a deal which could be the Foxes’ record signing.
Gibson, who has been a rock in Middlesbrough’s back four, is high on Leicester’s summer transfer list, with a move expected to happen regardless of whether or not Boro stay in the Premier League or go down into the second tier of English football.
According to the report in the Telegraph, Middlesbrough will be demanding £30m for the 24-year-old, who has been the Tyneside club’s fan favourite this season.
The 24-year-old has been excellent for Boro this season, with the Englishmen getting an England call-up in April and attracting clubs in the Premier League such as Liverpool, Stoke City and Chelsea.
The reigning Premier League champions, who are currently occupying 11th place in the Premier League table, have been pursuing a new defender to offer competition to Wes Morgan and Robert Huth, who have both underachieved this season for the Foxes.
