Leicester close to appointing Claude Puel
Leicester City are close to appointing Claude Puel as their new manager, according to the Independent.
The French boss is currently out of work, and looks to be set for a swift return to management following his dismissal from the Southampton hot-seat back in June.
Leicester have wasted no time in moving for a new manager after sacking Craig Shakespeare last week. Michael Appleton took caretaker charge of the Foxes’ 2-1 win away at Swansea at the weekend, but the club are evidently more keen to appoint an established, more experienced manager.
Puel is claimed to be “deep” into talks with Leicester, and the report even goes as far as saying that he could be announced as the Foxes boss in the next day.
The 56-year-old was sacked by Southampton after coming under fire for a conservative approach to the game, with the club’s supporters growing impatient with his methods and his mannerisms.
