Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been ruled out of this weekend’s game against Tottenham.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that the striker will miss the game as he continues to recover from a groin injury.

The striker sat out of the midweek game against Fulham and could also be out of action for next week’s visit to Crystal Palace.

It had been suggested that the club could consider surgery to try and speed up the player’s recovery but that no longer appears to be an option.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Claude Puel admitted that the club needs to be patience in their approach with the striker.

Jamie won’t be available. We will protect him, he has a little pain and I hope he can recover after 10 days. If we push him perhaps it will be a big injury and I want to protect him. I hope we can have Jamie for Crystal Palace, but I am not sure. We will see if he will improve his feeling and see when we can use him.

Vardy has been struggling with injuries on and off for some time now and they finally appear to have got the better of him.

The 31-year-old has made nine starts for the Foxes in the Premier League this season and scored five times for Puel’s men.
