Jakupovic has not played a minute of first-team football for Leicester this season, with both Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward ahead of him in the pecking order at the King Power.
He joined Leicester from Hull City, where he impressed in the Premier League – despite their relegation to the Championship.
The Swiss goalkeeper played two Premier League games for Leicester last season, with a further two appearances in the cup.
Forest are looking to gain promotion from the Championship and are hoping to add Jakupovic to their squad this month on a loan deal.
