Rodgers not concerned by United’s Maguire interest
Harry Maguire has been the subject of interest from Manchester United over the last few months – but Brendan Rodgers insists he is not worried by this speculation.
According to the Leicester Mercury, Rodgers said:
It doesn’t worry me. I think all you can worry about is that you make the team the very best they can be.
The England international has been a great signing for the Foxes, since his arrival from Hull City for £17 million in the summer of 2017. He has become a key player in the heart of Leicester’s defence – playing every minute of their league campaign last season.
His brilliant form at club level rewarded him a call-up for the England national team in 2017. Since then, he has cemented his place in the side and even played a vital part in their World Cup run last summer – where they reached the semi-finals of the tournament.
It is no surprise that he is catching the eyes of Manchester United with the way he has proved himself in the Premier League and on the international scene.
Rodgers added:
They may well come in. You always have to prepared for that moment as a club. It happens but at this moment in time, I’m thinking about the team, and making it the best that we can.
Maguire had recently signed a new contract at the King Power, but it is unlikely that this will prevent Manchester United from placing a bid if he is the man they want.
What would please Leicester fans, however, will be that his value has increased significantly since he’s signed this new deal.
There is still a few months until the summer transfer window opens, so everything will just be speculation until then.
