Leicester City target and Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has signed a new long-term contract with the Scottish club.

As reported by Sky Sports News, the Colombian forward has committed himself to a new deal with Rangers, ending any speculation about a move to the Premier League.

Leicester and clubs in the Bundesliga have been linked with a move for the £20m-rated striker, but it does not appear that he will be going anywhere anytime soon.

Steven Gerrard had previously talked up the need for the club to keep hold of the player, amid rising interest in his services.

Brendan Rodgers was said to be an admirer of the player, who has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season, having watched him closely during his time in Scotland with Celtic.

With Jamie Vardy approaching the latter stages of his career, the Foxes could turn their attention to a long-term replacement during the summer transfer window.
