Rodgers determined to fight to keep Chilwell
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers claims he is ready to fight to keep hold of young star Ben Chilwell, having finally got to work with a man he has wanted for years.
Manchester City have recently been tipped to make a big money move to sign the 22-year old left-back, who has impressed for the Foxes since his debut in December 2016.
As well as being a promising star that the club don’t want to lose, the club don’t have an abundance of options in the left-back position, with only the aging Christian Fuchs as cover.
And having been a top target for Rodgers when he was at Liverpool, the Northern Ireland coach has explained that he has no intention of letting the England international full-back leave the King Power Stadium.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game against Burnley, where the Foxes won 2-1 at Turf Moor, Rodgers (as reported by BT Sport) said:
I’m just in the door and I can see he’s a huge talent, I tried to take him to Liverpool when I was there.
So I know how good he is, he wasn’t in the first team though. But I’m pretty relaxed about it.
He’s a wonderful young player, he’s still got a lot to learn in his game.
He really enjoys being here, we’ll see how it pans out but he’s certainly one we don’t want to lose.
