Manchester United have reportedly been given the green light to complete a £65 million deal for Leicester’s Harry Maguire this summer.
The Daily Star reports that United are confident that they can complete a deal at the end of the season after missing out on his signature last summer.
Maguire was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford after the World Cup in Russia and the club have clearly maintained their interest in the defender.
The player himself is believed to be keen on the idea of making the move, as he sets out his ambitions to play in Europe and compete for major honours going forward.
The report claims that the defender is also aware that he would be in line for a big wage hike, should he make the move to Old Trafford.
Maguire is under contract at Leicester until 2023, so he will not come cheaply, but United are clearly keen as they look to revamp their backline.
Potential departures from Leicester this summer
The Belgian has impressed on loan from Monaco and it would be a great shame if the club were unable to sign him permanently.
Caglar Soyuncu has struggled to break into Leicester’s plans and may look to leave on loan in order to get some game time under his belt.
Ben Chilwell is believed to be a target for Manchester City and could see reports about his future dominate the headlines over the summer.
Danny Simpson may find his days at the King Power numbered as the club look to plan for the future.
