On-loan Leicester City midfielder Youri Teilemans has revealed he is expecting to return to Monaco this summer, despite interest from a plethora of English clubs.
The 22-year-old joined the King Power Stadium back in January on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Tielemans instantly become a fan favourite at the club with a series of consistent displays, which has led to the Foxes showing a keen interest in making his move permanent.
The highly-rated youngster has been involved in Leicester’s last 13 games in all competitions, scoring in the wins over Fulham, Huddersfield and Arsenal.
However, as a result of Tielemans’ impressive performances, both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on the midfielder ahead of a possible summer swoop.
Despite this, Tielemans, talking to VTM Nieuws, cited by the Manchester Evening News, admitted he is expecting to return to Monaco next season.
I expect that I will return to Monaco in the summer, unless something’s moving.
At the moment there’s nothing. If things are going well you want to keep it like that. I don’t know what Monaco will be asking, so I can’t talk about it.
Tielemans played a key role in Leicester’s final games which helped them to a 9th placed finish and could be a vital signing in helping Brendan Rodgers’ side kick on once again next season.
Why Youri Tielemans would be a vital signing for Leicester
The Belgian has fit in perfectly in the Foxes midfield and compliments the likes of Wilfried Ndid and James Maddison.
At the age of 22, Tielemans isn’t even in his prime. The youngster still has plenty of time to improve, which is a scary thought.
Tielemans has shown his goalscoring class during his short stint with the Foxes and may even be able to hit double figures with the club next season.
Fits Rodgers' style
Despite not signing the player, the midfielder has fit right in with Brendan Rodgers following his arrival in February.
