Youri Tielemans has been a primary target for Brendan Rodgers this summer following a successful loan spell during the second half of last season.

Rodgers is keen on keeping the Belgium midfielder on a permanent basis as he looks to try and push the Foxes into a European spot.

Leicester will feel hopeful about securing the signature of the 22-year-old after launching a £36 million bid, as well as the fact Tielemans has recently said it is ‘unlikely’ he will stay at Monaco.

While Rodgers would have been feeling hopeful, it appears Manchester United too are also very keen on signing the midfielder, according to reports from Belgium, cited by the Daily Star.

It is reported that United are keen on drafting in a new central midfielder, with the future of Paul Pogba still in doubt. The Frenchman told reporters in Tokyo recently that he could leave Old Trafford this summer:

After this season and all that has happened, and it was my best season, I think it might be a good time for me to to take up a new challenge elsewhere. I think about that: a new challenge elsewhere.

With Pogba’s future at United looking like it’s coming to a close, it has been suggested that they themselves have also made a £36 million bid for Tielemans as a potential replacement.

However, according to the report, Leicester may still have an advantage by using Adrien Silva, who could go the opposite way as part of a deal.

Silva featured 15 times last season for Monaco on loan and the French club are interested in signing him permanently this summer too after their relegation battle in Ligue 1.
