Manchester United and Leicester have agreed an £85m deal to take Harry Maguire to Old Trafford this week.

According to John Percy, of the Telegraph, a deal has been reached on Friday, with the fee set to break the world-record for a defender.

Maguire has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the summer transfer window and now appears to be closing in on his transfer up north.

The central defender was exceptional for Leicester in the Premier League last season and has nailed down his place in the starting XI for England at international level, impressing at the World Cup last summer.

Virgil Van Dijk’s £75m move from Southampton to Liverpool in January 2018 is the current transfer record for a defender.

Leicester will now need to replace the centre-back, although who they will target remains to be seen.
