Leicester City are set to land midfielder Dennis Praet for €20m from Italian outfit Sampdoria this week.

According to The Guardian, via Fabrizio Romano, Praet is on the verge of becoming Leicester’s latest signing.

The report claims that the Belgian international will put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Leicester, signing for £18.4m.

Could Praet be a good signing for Leicester?

Yes. If Brendan Rodgers decides to go with a similar system to last season and play Youri Tielemans and James Maddison as 8’s, with Wilfred Ndidi sitting behind them, Praet could be a great option to rotate with.

The Belgian midfielder was given a WhoScored rating of 6.99/10 for his performances in the Serie A for Sampdoria last season. To provide some context, Tielemans scored 6.68/10 for Monaco in the first-half of the 2018/19 season before his move to Leicester.

Praet is said to be a hardworking midfielder, which could be vital in pressing high up the pitch and winning back possession in key areas for Leicester – allowing the likes of James Maddison and Jamie Vardy to work their magic in the final third.

At 25-years-old, Praet also still has plenty of room to develop and could thrive under the management of Brendan Rodgers – who brought the best out of Tielemans and Maddison in midfield last season.
