Leicester City made it eight Premier League wins in a row after beating Aston Villa 4-1 at Villa Park.
Brendan Rodgers’ side solidified their second place position with the win and are now six points clear of third place Manchester City.
To open the scoring in Leicester’s eighth win on the bounce, it was Jamie Vardy once again, to continue his scoring run and extending it to eight consectutive Premier League games with a goal.
On his first start of the season, Kelechi Iheanacho played the ball through to Vardy, who looked like he had lost the chance before firing it in on the second time of asking.
Iheanacho himself then made it 2-0. After some excellent build-up play, James Maddison sent a cross into the near post which Iheanacho finished superbly.
Villa got got back into the game on the verge of half-time as Leicester failed to clear the ball from a corner, Jack Grealish fired a shot from the edge of the box which took a deflection on it’s way past Kasper Schmeichel.
But the Foxes started the second-half on the front foot and it wasn’t long before they restored their two goal lead.
Jonny Evans scored his first goal of the season with a brilliant header on the end of a Maddison corner.
Leicester’s fourth and final goal came from the leagues top goalscorer when Vardy finished well in typical fashion, after a superb ball from Dennis Praet played the striker through to make it 16 goals in 16 games this season.
Here is how we rated the Leicester players:
Kasper Schmeichel - 7
Schmeichel had another fairly quiet afternoon in the Leicester net. He could’t have done mich to stop Grealish’s shot after the deflection, and he distributed well throughout.
Ricardo Pereira - 9
Ricardo was fantastic in all areas of the pitch. Constantly caused problems for the Villa defence and drew fouls all afternoon. He also made some crucial tackles in his own final third.
Jonny Evans - 8.5
Evans scored his first goal of the season with an excellent header and was a force at the back.
Caglar Soyuncu -8.5
Soyuncu defended brialliantly throughout, read the game well and positioned himself in the right spots. He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself after his close range header went straight into the head of Tom Heaton.
Ben Chilwell - 7.5
Chilwell had a good game but couldn’t get the final pass right after making good runs down the left.
Wilfred Ndidi - 8
Ndidi did his job well in front of the Leicester defence and is starting to look more comfortable on the ball.
Youri Tielemans - 8
Tielemans played well in attack and defence. He made a couple of excellent blocks on the edge of the Leicester box and transitioned play well from defence to attack.
Dennis Praet - 8.5
Praet was superb on the ball and his assist to Vardy showed brilliant technique. He had also played another great pass through to Vardy in the first half.
James Maddison - 9
Maddison really controlled the match, he came deep to pick the ball up, won nine fouls, created five chances, got two assists and made some solid defensive contributions. A very complete performance and one that showed his improvement as an all-round player from last season
Kelechi Iheanacho - 8.5
Iheanacho impressed once again and looks like a completely different player to the one we’ve seen the last two seasons. His hold-up play was good, he made some great incisive passes and made a smart finish for his goal.
Jamie Vardy - 9
Vardy continued his fantastic scoring record under Rodgers, his two today made it 25 goals in 26 games under the Northern Irishman. Eight games in a row and is now five clear at the top of the scoring charts.
Subs: Harvey Barnes - 7
Barnes once again got himself into some great positions to score but couldn’t find the finishing touch.
Marc Albrighton - N/a
Was a late substitute.
James Justin - N/a
Was a late substitute.
