Leicester City got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over West Ham United at London Stadium.
Brenden Rodgers put out a fairly surprising team selection with many of the team making their first league starts of the season.
Leicester took the lead through Kelechi Iheanacho after Ayoze Perez showed great determination to keep a James Justin cross in play and head the ball back in to the Nigerian striker to nod into the net.
The Foxes’ lead didn’t last long, however, on the brink of half-time the hosts levelled the scoring. Felipe Anderson gliding past a Christian Fuchs tackle and sending the ball into the box for Pablo Fornals to score his first Premier League goal.
It was the visitors who looked the more dangerous of the two sides following the break and it was Perez once again who set up the Leicester winner.
The forward sprinted up the pitch on a Leicetser advantage and played through a perfectly timed pass for Demarai Gray to run onto who then finished with composure.
City weren’t really troubled for the remaining 35 minutes of the match and held on to secure the three points and solidfy their second place position in the table.
Here is how we rated the Leicester players:
Kasper Schmeichel - 7
Schmeichel read the game well and was quick to react to some of the few chances West Ham had.
James Justin - 7.5
Justin showed his ability in attack and defence. He looks like a bright prospect for Leicester’s future.
Wes Morgan - 7.5
This was one of Morgans best performances in a while. He reacted quickly to any threats and displayed good skill on the ball also.
Jonny Evans - 8
While Morgan wore the captain’s armband, it appeared as though it was Evans who was commanding the Leicester back-line. The Northern Irishman put in a typically classy display and always seemed one step ahead of his opponents.
Christian Fuchs - 7
Fuchs had a fairly solid game for the most part, however, he was partly at fault for West Ham’s equaliser just before half-time with a poor attempted tackle letting Anderson through.
Hamza Choudhury - 8
Choudhury put in an impressive performance, playing with a great intensity infront of the back-line. The young midfielder is unfortunate not to be playing on a more regular basis, but the quality Leicester possess in midfield is keeping him out of the side.
Nampalys Mendy - 8
Mendy played very well for a player only making his second apperance all season. The Frenchman was tidy in possession and always looked in control.
Ayoze Perez - 8.5
Perez didn’t seem to get involved to much throughout the match, but then played a big part in both his side’s goals. He showed great determination to keep the ball in play and head across to Iheanacho for the opener. Then his run and through ball for Gray’s winner was very nicely done.
Marc Albrighton - 7.5
Albrighton put in a shift all afternoon and didn’t stop chasing the ball down.
Demarai Gray - 8.5
Gray looked like a threat going forwards throughout the match. His good finish for the winner made up for the poor penalty he saw saved in the first-half.
Kelechi Iheanacho - 8
Iheanacho continues to revive his career this season. He looked composed on the ball and stayed focused to head in the opening goal.
Subs: James Maddison - 7.5
Maddison came on an took over the midfield, constantly winning free-kicks and picking out passes. He played a big part in Leicester closing out the match.
Wilfred Ndidi - 7
Ndidi made a few nice tackles and interceptions, although did completely mis-kick a clearance which almost ended in disaster had Schmeichel not reacted quickly.
Harvey Barnes - N/a
Was a late substitute.
