Mason Mount has revealed he wants to play alongside James Maddison and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, rather than being compared to them.

All three stars are looking to impress for their clubs to play themselves into contention to feature for England at this summer’s EURO 2020.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mount explained how he doesn’t see the pair as rivals ahead of Gareth Southgate’s squad selection:

It’s brilliant there are so many young midfielders who are coming through and doing well in the Premier League. It is great for the country. You see a lot of people comparing us to each other, whereas I think a lot of us can play together and learn from each other and work with each other.

At the moment, I think Maddison and Grealish are certainly in contention for the Euros but Mount still has plenty to learn.

All three are young and have plenty of major tournaments ahead of them, but it feels like the two aforementioned are just ahead of Mount at this time.

I personally don’t think they could fit in a team together, with all three striking me as either attacking midfielders or the most advanced in a midfield three.

England’s friendlies before EURO 2020 kicks off will give us a big indication of what Gareth Southgate is planning regarding the trio.

Without being biased... who is the better player?

James Maddison

Jack Grealish

Mason Mount
