Leicester City and Fulham to battle for Jonathan Tah
A report in The Telegraph has claimed Leicester City have joined Fulham in the race for Bayer Leverkusen defender Johnathan Tah.
Recently quoted as a £33 million target for Arsenal by German publication BILD, it would take a large chunk out of both clubs’ budgets to get the centre-back.
The 6’5 24-year-old has blossomed in senior football and now could be ready to make the switch to the Premier League.
Tah, joined Leverkusen in 2015 from Hamburg, since making over 100 Bundesliga appearances for the club.
The central defender’s form has also earned him international recognition, earning 10 caps since his debut against England in 2016.
Foxes’ manager Brendan Rodgers is seemingly desperate to bring an additional centre-back into his squad.
Both Jonny Evans and in particular Wes Morgan are coming towards the back end of their careers at the highest level and Rodgers will know he will need replacements sooner rather than later.
Signing a bright prospect like Tah now would fit the bill perfectly, allowing him time to adapt to the Premier League without the need to throw him in at the deep end.
However, Leicester’s number one target remains 19-year-old St Etienne defender Wesley Fofana, who recently told L’Equipe he would be “crazy” to turn down a move to the King Power Stadium.
