Leicester City are in pole position to sign Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana, according to reports from a L’Equipe (via Sport Witness).

The defender has been targeted by Italian giants AC Milan in recent weeks, but the King Power Stadium is rumoured to be Fofana’s first-choice destination, due ti his admiration for the Premier League.

Leicestershire Live also note that the Foxes have submitted a fourth offer to Saint-Etienne, worth around £40 million including add-ons.

The 19-year-old has risen through the ranks at the Ligue 1 side. He joined the academy in 2015, breaking through to the senior team last year and making 19 appearances in total.

Despite a relatively short stint in the men’s setup, the Frenchman’s contribution has not gone unnoticed. This season alone, he has kept clean sheets in three of the four matches that he played in.

Prior to this, he was a key figure in Saint-Etienne’s Coupe de France journey to the final, before they lost narrowly to PSG.

Fofana’s future has not been cast in stone yet. However, his apparent desire to choose Leicester over AC Milan could be the final push Brendan Rodgers needs to lure another high-quality player.
